In his late-night statement, Zelensky underscored that Ukraine has historically been the primary initiator of such humanitarian pauses and will continue to adhere to the fundamental principle of “mirror actions.” This doctrine dictates that Ukrainian armed forces will refrain from initiating hostilities during the designated period but remain fully authorized to respond defensively and decisively if provoked by the enemy.
