Search and rescue operations have concluded at the site of a missile strike on a 16-story apartment building in Kyiv’s Darnytskyi district, where the death toll from the Russian mass attack has risen to 31, as reported by the State Emergency Service of Ukraine. This strike marks yet another brutal chapter in Russia’s campaign targeting Ukrainian residential infrastructure.
Emergency crews worked under dangerous conditions to clear debris from the 12th and 13th floors of the damaged building. Using heavy equipment, including an XCMG QY75K crane, teams extracted 24 concrete slabs weighing approximately 53 tons. The remains recovered from the site have been transferred to the National Police for forensic identification. A total of 30 rescuers and eight units of heavy machinery were deployed to handle the immediate aftermath of the strike.
According to the latest figures, 31 people were killed and 102 were injured in the attack on July 2. This incident occurred during a massive Russian offensive that involved the deployment of 74 missiles and nearly 500 drones of various types across Ukraine. While Ukrainian air defense forces successfully intercepted the majority of the incoming threats, the sheer volume of weapons caused catastrophic damage in the capital.
In the aftermath of the tragedy, the Kremlin reiterated its intent to continue military pressure on Ukraine to achieve its stated objectives. In response, President Volodymyr Zelenskyy has vowed that Russia will be held accountable for the bloodshed in Kyiv.
