Kherson has once again come under intense fire from Russian forces. According to the Kherson City Military Administration, the city was targeted by multiple strikes on the night of July 17th and the following morning, resulting in civilian deaths and widespread infrastructure damage. This campaign of terror against peaceful residents remains a core tactic for Russian forces occupying areas along the frontline.
The attacks began at approximately 00:15, when a Russian drone struck a residential building in the city center. A 59-year-old man was severely injured by the blast, suffering mine-explosive trauma and shrapnel wounds. By 7:00 AM, the invaders launched an artillery strike on the Korabelnyi district. A 70-year-old woman was caught in the blast, sustaining critical traumatic brain injuries and shrapnel wounds to the chest. Despite the best efforts of medical professionals, the head of the Military Administration later confirmed that the woman succumbed to her injuries.
The situation within the Kherson community remains dire. Russian forces are employing a diverse range of weaponry, including FPV drones, reconnaissance UAVs, the ‘Molniya’ strike drones, and guided aerial bombs. Over the past 24 hours, five settlements within the community have come under fire, resulting in damage to private homes, educational institutions, medical facilities, and administrative buildings.
Local authorities have warned of an alarmingly high level of enemy drone activity, indicating a persistent attempt by the aggressor to destabilize daily life in the region. The systematic destruction of civilian infrastructure is a hallmark of Russia’s war in Ukraine. According to regional reports, seven people were injured across the Kherson region due to drone attacks within the last day alone. As the community faces these relentless threats, it remains a testament to resilience while the Ukrainian Armed Forces continue their defensive operations against the invading forces.
