A humanitarian warehouse of the World Food Programme (WFP) in Dnipro was struck four times by Russian drones within a single day. The official WFP report confirmed the incident, stating that while staff were unharmed, the facility sustained significant damage. This is the seventh time in just three months that clearly marked humanitarian assets have been targeted in Ukraine.
WFP Representative in Ukraine Richard Reagan described the events as a disturbing trend of increasing attacks on humanitarian operations. Over the past two years, the WFP has documented more than 90 incidents involving damage to warehouses, transport vehicles, and food distribution points. These facilities are critical to supporting millions of Ukrainians affected by the war, yet they are increasingly becoming the targets of Russian military aggression.
International humanitarian law strictly prohibits attacks on civilian and humanitarian infrastructure. However, Moscow continues to disregard these norms, utilizing drones to strike logistics chains far from the front lines. The systematic nature of these attacks suggests a deliberate effort to create food insecurity and disrupt international aid efforts. Such actions are clear violations of the Geneva Convention, yet the international response remains tested as Russia continues to escalate its campaign against civilian life.
The Dnipro region, which has seen repeated attacks on its infrastructure, remains a priority for the Russian military’s strategy of attrition.
