Striking the Core: Ukrainian Defense Forces Target Russian Oil Hubs in Tver and Kuban Regions

The Ukrainian Defense Forces are continuing their highly effective, systematic campaign aimed at dismantling the logistical framework and energy infrastructure of the Russian Federation. By bringing the war deep into hostile territory, Ukraine is actively undermining the aggressor’s capacity to sustain its frontline operations. Overnight on Saturday, Ukrainian long-range attack drones successfully struck strategic oil facilities within Russia, specifically targeting oil depots in the city of Tver and a critical oil pumping station in the Krasnodar Krai.

The successful disruption of these enemy assets was officially confirmed by Andriy Kovalenko, the Head of the Center for Countering Disinformation (CCD) at the National Security and Defense Council of Ukraine. In a statement posted on his official Telegram channel, Kovalenko highlighted the intensifying pressure on Russian military logistics.

“Russia was under attack at night. There were direct hits in the city of Tver, where significant oil depots are located. Furthermore, in the Krasnodar Krai of the Russian Federation, the Krymskaya oil pipeline station was attacked—they are finishing it off for the second time in a single week,” Kovalenko detailed in his report. This deliberate “double-tap” strategy over the span of a few days indicates a clear intention by Ukrainian commanders not merely to damage, but to completely obliterate crucial fuel supply nodes that sustain Russian occupation forces in southern Ukraine and the occupied Crimean Peninsula.

Meanwhile, Russian social media segments and independent monitoring channels were flooded with video evidence capturing massive explosions and towering blazes at the Tver facilities, alongside the precise strike on the Krymskaya station. Despite the usual attempts by local Russian authorities to downplay the incidents as merely “falling debris” from intercepted drones, the visual proof overwhelmingly confirms direct impacts on fuel storage tanks and sensitive technological equipment.

This operation is a vital component of Ukraine’s broader asymmetric warfare strategy. The reach of Ukrainian strike capabilities has expanded exponentially. Just a day prior, the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine confirmed the successful targeting of two Russian drilling rigs located in the Caspian Sea. Operating as military outposts, these rigs were struck at an unprecedented distance of nearly 1,000 kilometers from the active combat zone, demonstrating a dramatic shift in Ukraine’s long-range strike capabilities.

Additionally, the Ukrainian military continues to assess the extensive damage inflicted during recent operations, including updated intelligence regarding the recent devastating attack on the major oil refinery in Kstovo, Nizhny Novgorod region. By systematically disabling Russia’s oil and gas infrastructure, Ukraine not only engineers acute fuel shortages for the invading army but also inflicts severe economic strain on the Kremlin, choking off the vital financial arteries that fund the ongoing war.
