The United States Department of State has officially authorized a potential foreign military sale to Ukraine for the sustainment of HAWK missile system equipment. The deal, valued at approximately $138 million, is designed to bolster Ukraine’s integrated air defense capabilities, providing critical infrastructure to fend off ongoing Russian aerial threats.
The proposed support package includes the maintenance, modification, and logistical support of the HAWK missile systems, specifically the FrankenSAM variants. The deal covers the provision of mast trailers, essential spare parts, engineering and technical services from both U.S. government personnel and private contractors, as well as necessary software support. By maintaining these legacy systems, Ukraine can continue to leverage its existing air defense network while integrating advanced modern modifications to counter drones and missiles more effectively.
“This proposed sale will improve Ukraine’s capability to meet current and future threats by providing enhanced integrated air defense capacity,” the State Department stated.
