Ukraine has officially launched a pilot program for a new prioritization mechanism within its “eCherga” (electronic queue) system at border crossings for trucks over 3.5 tons. The State Customs Service of Ukraine reported that this update aims to enhance logistics efficiency for compliant businesses and international transporters.
The priority status will now be granted to companies holding the Authorized Economic Operator (AEO) status. Additionally, transports utilizing T1 transit declarations or TIR carnets will receive preferential treatment. The customs service highlighted that the verification process is entirely automated through the seamless integration of customs databases with the eCherga platform.
The new system operates on a “3:5” ratio. Under this structure, for every five trucks processed without priority, three vehicles possessing AEO status or specific transit documentation will be moved to the front of the line. This algorithmic approach is designed to balance traffic flow while rewarding businesses that strictly adhere to international customs standards and transparency.
Currently, 128 enterprises in Ukraine hold the AEO status. Customs authorities are using this testing period to monitor how the new mechanism impacts overall border crossing speed and administrative efficiency. By fostering a more predictable environment for exporters and importers, Ukraine is taking a significant step toward harmonizing its logistics standards with European models, even amidst the ongoing challenges of the war. Officials expect that these improvements will reduce waiting times and help stabilize supply chains that are vital to the nation’s economy.
