The maritime phase of the annual Sea Breeze exercises is currently underway in Portland, UK, under the joint leadership of the U.S. and Ukrainian Navies. According to the official report from the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, the primary objective of this year’s drills is to prepare for extensive anti-mine operations in the Black and Azov Seas. Ensuring maritime safety is a vital prerequisite for the restoration of Ukraine’s economic potential and the safe resumption of international trade routes, which have been severely disrupted by the ongoing Russian aggression.
During the exercises, naval crews are practicing the detection and neutralization of dangerous maritime objects. Simultaneously, staff officers are refining their planning and coordination skills to manage complex international naval operations.
