On May 24, Russian forces launched a combined aerial attack targeting the city of Cherkasy, resulting in a drone strike on a residential apartment building. According to the report from the Head of the Cherkasy Regional Military Administration, Ihor Taburets, 11 people were injured in the attack, including two children.
The impact of the drone triggered a severe fire that engulfed apartments from the fifth to the ninth floors of the high-rise building. Emergency services were deployed to the scene and managed to extinguish the blaze. While most victims received medical treatment on-site, three individuals were hospitalized. In a separate incident within the same attack, a Russian cruise missile damaged a non-operational farm in the Zolotonosha district; fortunately, there were no civilian casualties at that site.
This strike is part of a broader campaign of terror targeting Ukraine’s civilian population.
