The full-scale invasion launched by the Russian Federation continues to exact a catastrophic and unsustainable toll on its military forces. According to the latest operational update from the Ukrainian military command, the overall combat losses of Russian personnel in Ukraine have reached unprecedented levels. From the onset of the invasion on February 24, 2022, through April 12, 2026, the Armed Forces of Ukraine have eliminated approximately 1,311,180 Russian troops. In the past 24 hours alone, Ukrainian defenders neutralized an additional 1,070 enemy combatants, highlighting the relentless intensity of the frontline clashes.
These staggering statistics were officially reported by the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. Beyond the immense human cost, the Russian military is rapidly losing its critical mechanized and artillery capabilities in a grueling war of attrition.
Since the beginning of the war, Ukrainian forces have successfully destroyed 11,859 enemy tanks (including 8 in the last day) and 24,384 armored fighting vehicles (+3). A particularly notable achievement over the past day was the destruction of 73 Russian artillery systems, bringing the total number of obliterated enemy artillery to 39,871. This massive daily loss of heavy guns underscores the effectiveness of Ukraine’s counter-battery fire and precision strikes. Additionally, the Russian army lost one multiple launch rocket system (MLRS), bringing the total to 1,727, and one air defense system (totaling 1,345).
The aerial and naval domains reflect similar devastation for Moscow. To date, Russia has lost 435 fixed-wing aircraft, 350 helicopters, and 4,517 cruise missiles, alongside 35 warships or boats and 2 submarines. The scale of the modern drone war is also staggering: in a single day, Ukrainian electronic warfare units and air defense teams neutralized a record 2,081 operational-tactical UAVs, pushing the total number of destroyed enemy drones to an astonishing 233,866. Russian logistics are also failing, with 88,914 vehicles and fuel tanks destroyed, including 216 just yesterday.
Despite these heavy losses, Russian forces continue to terrorize Ukrainian civilians, launching new waves of kamikaze drones targeting cities from Sumy and Kyiv to Odesa. Furthermore, the occupying forces consistently violate the rules of war. In a recent, tragic incident in the Zaporizhzhia region, Russian troops opened fire and killed a Ukrainian evacuation team during a localized “ceasefire.” This brutal war crime serves as a stark reminder of Moscow’s complete disregard for international humanitarian law and the safety of non-combatants.
