Russian forces have launched yet another airstrike targeting civilian and industrial infrastructure in Kherson, intensifying their campaign of economic devastation in southern Ukraine. According to an official statement released by the State Emergency Service of Ukraine (SESU), the enemy attack struck a local industrial enterprise, sparking a massive fire that rapidly engulfed two large warehouse facilities. Despite the immediate and high-risk environment, Ukrainian emergency response teams rushed to the scene to prevent the flames from spreading further into nearby industrial zones.
The firefighting operation was conducted under exceptionally hazardous conditions. Rescue teams were forced to work under the constant threat of enemy drone attacks hovering overhead. Russian military tactics have increasingly relied on “double-tap” strikes—a highly controversial and illegal practice of launching secondary attacks on the same location shortly after the initial strike, targeting first responders, medics, and utility workers who arrive to help. Despite this extreme risk, Ukrainian firefighters managed to successfully localize and extinguish the blaze. Miraculously, no casualties or injuries among the civilian population or rescue personnel were reported.
This latest strike on Kherson is part of a broader, systematic pattern of Russian attacks on Ukraine’s economic infrastructure. Over the past several months, Russian forces have escalated their use of guided aerial bombs (KABs), artillery, and kamikaze drones to strike industrial sites, logistics hubs, and agricultural facilities across the front-line regions. These actions are designed not only to disrupt local supply chains and economic recovery but also to make liberated areas uninhabitable for returning civilians.
International analysts view these continuous attacks on civil and commercial assets as deliberate war crimes aimed at terrorizing the population and undermining Ukraine’s economic resilience. Kherson, which was liberated by Ukrainian forces in late 2022, remains under constant bombardment from Russian positions on the occupied eastern bank of the Dnipro River. Despite the near-daily shelling, Ukrainian utility services, emergency responders, and local volunteer networks continue to maintain critical operations, demonstrating remarkable resilience and determination in the face of ongoing aggression.
