On the night of May 30, the Armed Forces of Ukraine executed a series of highly coordinated and precise strikes against vital military and logistical facilities inside the Russian Federation and within the temporarily occupied Crimea, as officially reported by the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. These operations underline a systematic shift in Ukraine’s defense strategy, focusing heavily on paralyzing the logistics and support networks of the Russian occupation forces.
A key target of the operation was the “Kurgannefteprodukt” oil terminal located in Taganrog, Rostov Oblast. This facility serves as a primary hub for storing and transferring fuel destined for Russian military formations operating in southern Ukraine. Preliminary data indicates significant damage to a major fuel reservoir. Concurrently, the strikes in the Taganrog area successfully targeted two Tu-142 maritime patrol aircraft and an Iskander-M tactical missile launcher. Damaging these high-value assets directly degrades Russia’s long-range reconnaissance and missile launch capabilities.
Furthermore, Ukrainian forces expanded their targeting scope by striking a drone storage depot in Ivanivka, Kharkiv Oblast, and an FSB patrol boat maintenance facility in Voloshyno, occupied Crimea. This was complemented by targeted strikes against concentrations of Russian troops in the Donetsk, Luhansk, and Zaporizhzhia regions, as well as the successful neutralization of a Pantsir-S1 air defense system near the Saky military airfield in Crimea earlier on May 28. By systematically blinding enemy air defenses and eliminating localized radar coverage, Ukraine continues to open secure corridors for deep aerial strikes.
The sophistication of these operations is further highlighted by the active involvement of the newly formed Unmanned Systems Forces (SBS). According to SBS commander Robert “Madyar” Brovdi, Ukrainian maritime and aerial drones successfully struck a Russian shadow fleet tanker engaged in illicit fuel transportation, alongside the Feodosia marine oil terminal in Crimea.
Coupled with recent strikes as far as 500 kilometers deep into Russian territory, such as the hit on the Armavir oil facility, Ukraine is demonstrating an unprecedented capacity for asymmetric warfare. By dismantling Russia’s energy supply lines, naval assets, and air defense shield, the Ukrainian military is effectively neutralizing the Kremlin’s material superiority on the front lines.
