Ukrainian National Police officers have successfully dismantled a major interregional drug trafficking channel, as officially reported on the National Police website. This operation is the culmination of a months-long investigation aimed at disrupting criminal organizations involved in illegal drug distribution across the country.
The investigation identified a 40-year-old resident of Kryvyi Rih, associated with a notorious local gang, as the mastermind behind the scheme. The perpetrators utilized a sophisticated logistics network, employing a vehicle equipped with hidden compartments to transport cocaine from Kryvyi Rih to Kyiv. Once in the capital, a 43-year-old accomplice managed the distribution to various dealers and wholesale buyers.
During the decisive raid, law enforcement officers seized approximately one kilogram of cocaine, valued at around 8 million hryvnias on the illicit market. In addition to the narcotics, police recovered digital scales, cash, and mobile devices. All four individuals involved have been detained and charged with the illegal acquisition, storage, and distribution of narcotic drugs in especially large quantities.
The local court has already ordered three of the suspects to remain in custody, with the possibility of bail. Under Ukrainian law, the individuals involved face up to 12 years of imprisonment. This operation serves as a stark reminder of the continuous efforts of Ukrainian authorities to maintain public order and security, even while focusing on national defense and neutralizing external threats.
The fight against organized crime remains a priority for Ukrainian law enforcement, operating in parallel with efforts to identify foreign intelligence assets and combat various illegal activities that threaten the stability of the state.
