Since the beginning of the full-scale invasion, Poland has provided Ukraine with significant military aid totaling 16.55 billion zlotys (approximately $4.5 billion). According to Rzeczpospolita, the Minister of National Defence of Poland, Władysław Kosiniak-Kamysz, confirmed these figures during a press conference on July 6. The official disclosure aims to provide transparency regarding the substantial support Warsaw has extended to Kyiv.
The bulk of the aid was delivered during 2022 and 2023, including critical assets such as MiG-29 fighter jets and Mi-24 helicopters. Since the start of 2024, Poland has donated an additional 1.55 billion zlotys worth of military equipment. This recent aid includes PAC-3 missiles for Patriot air defense systems, Scan Eagle drone complexes, anti-tank guided missiles, and various types of ammunition for artillery and armored vehicles.
Minister Kosiniak-Kamysz emphasized that all decisions regarding the transfer of military hardware are based on comprehensive assessments by the Polish General Staff. He stated that the donation of Patriot missiles was conducted in consultation with NATO and the U.S. European Command, ensuring that Poland’s own defense capabilities remain intact. The Minister underscored that Poland is proud of its contribution to Ukraine’s defense and that the decision-making process is both professional and strategically sound.
The announcement follows recent internal political debates within Poland, where some opposition figures questioned the secrecy surrounding certain military transfers. However, the ministry’s decision to unveil these figures serves to confirm the scale and consistency of Poland’s commitment to Ukraine’s security. As Ukraine continues to engage with over 40 partner nations to bolster its air defenses, Poland’s ongoing support remains a cornerstone of the international effort to help Ukraine repel Russian aggression.
