The Defense Forces of Ukraine continue to deliver devastating blows to the invaders, according to the latest report released by the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. Over the past 24 hours, Ukrainian defenders have killed or wounded 1,170 Russian soldiers, confirming the high effectiveness of artillery units and drone operators.
Since the beginning of the full-scale invasion on February 24, 2022, through May 17, 2026, the Russian army has suffered enormous losses, with personnel casualties reaching approximately 1,348,790. Beyond manpower, the enemy has lost vast amounts of equipment. Specifically, as of today, 11,938 tanks, 24,578 armored fighting vehicles, and 42,215 artillery systems have been destroyed. Air defense efforts have also been significant, resulting in the downing of 436 aircraft and the destruction of over 295,000 operational-tactical level drones.
Analysts at Factage Ukraine observe that the current intensity of hostilities demonstrates the depletion of Russian mobilization resources, despite persistent attempts to pressure the front lines. Meanwhile, Ukrainian forces show progress not only in defense but also in tactical counter-attacks. The military command continues to focus on targeting logistics hubs and enemy command centers. Each day of such massive losses for the occupier is a step closer to the liberation of sovereign Ukrainian territories.
The situation at the front remains volatile, yet the systematic operations of the Armed Forces of Ukraine allow them to maintain the initiative on critical sectors. Despite the enemy’s attempts to use new types of specialized equipment—five units of which were destroyed just yesterday—the Ukrainian military continues to push the invaders out of fortified positions. As the nation remains steadfast in its defense, the international community continues to monitor the situation closely, acknowledging the resilience of both the Ukrainian military on the battlefield and the cultural influence of Ukraine abroad.
