France to Join Development of Anti-Ballistic Missile Systems for Ukraine

Володимир Зеленський та Еммануель Макрон обговорюють посилення ППО України

President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy held crucial negotiations with French President Emmanuel Macron, announcing, as per the official statement, that France is prepared to participate in developing anti-ballistic missile defense systems for Ukraine. This agreement marks a significant shift in military cooperation, providing Ukraine with essential tools to counter Russia’s intensifying missile terror.

“I thanked Emmanuel for his principled condemnation of the Russian attacks on our cities and communities. These strikes very clearly demonstrate what Russia is and why we all need to strengthen our joint protection against all threats,” Zelenskyy noted. He highlighted that France’s readiness to engage in “anti-ballistic” efforts is a bold decision and a vital step toward securing Ukrainian airspace against modern ballistic threats that have become increasingly common in the ongoing conflict.

During the conversation, the two leaders also discussed urgent measures to bolster Ukraine’s current air defense capabilities. The goal is to provide immediate protection against incoming strikes while simultaneously working on long-term technological solutions. This support from Paris underscores the strong bilateral bond and France’s commitment to European security in the face of aggression.

Furthermore, the discussion covered the European integration path. President Zelenskyy and President Macron addressed the opening of all negotiation clusters for Ukraine’s accession to the European Union in the near future. Macron reaffirmed France’s consistent stance in supporting Ukraine’s European aspirations, recognizing the importance of this historical process for the future of both the country and the continent.

This partnership extends beyond military aid, as both leaders acknowledged the importance of financial stability and the broader political support required to sustain Ukraine during these challenging times. By aligning their efforts on both security and economic policy, Ukraine and France are not only strengthening their current defenses but also building a resilient foundation for long-term stability in Eastern Europe. The initiative to develop advanced defensive systems is expected to significantly improve the protection of Ukrainian critical infrastructure, ensuring that the civilian population remains as secure as possible under the current circumstances.
