He is suspected of the systematic and prolonged rape of his underage stepdaughter. The suspect, who had been hiding abroad for nearly five years, was placed on the international wanted list before his capture. Following the completion of the pre-trial investigation, the Ukrainian prosecutor’s office has successfully forwarded the indictment to the court, the Office of the Prosecutor General reports. According to the official investigation, the systematic abuse began in February 2015 in a settlement located near the southern city of Odesa. Taking malicious advantage of the mother’s absence, the suspect systematically committed severe acts of sexual violence against the vulnerable child. The relentless abuse lasted for approximately five years, starting when the young girl was just 11 years old.
Law enforcement officials revealed that the accused not only corrupted the minor but also forced her to consume extreme pornographic content. In addition to repeated instances of rape, the man deliberately recorded portions of his criminal actions on a mobile phone and stored the explicit files securely on his personal laptop. These graphic materials were subsequently used as tools for psychological pressure, manipulation, and blackmail. By threatening to expose the recordings to others, the perpetrator coerced the victim into silence, effectively preventing her from seeking help or reporting the crimes to the relevant authorities for years.
Fleeing Abroad and International Manhunt
During authorized searches of the suspect’s residence, investigators confiscated around ten video recordings and a series of photographs, which now serve as crucial and irrefutable evidence in the ongoing criminal case. As the risk of exposure grew imminent and law enforcement began to close in, the man decided to flee Ukraine. Working as a sailor on various foreign commercial vessels, the fugitive managed to evade the authorities for almost five years. However, Ukrainian law enforcement agencies issued a formal notice of suspicion in absentia and declared him internationally wanted through global policing channels.
Following a successful operation and close coordination with Belgian authorities, the man was apprehended and returned to Ukrainian jurisdiction. The suspect is currently being held in custody in a pre-trial detention center, awaiting trial.
