Ukraine and Russia have agreed on the technical specifications for evacuating civilians from the Oleshky district in the Kherson region, where a severe humanitarian crisis has been unfolding. According to the Ukrainian Ombudsman Dmytro Lubinets, as reported by Ukrinform, Kyiv is currently awaiting a confirmed date for a ceasefire to commence the physical extraction of the affected population.
The planned evacuation aims to save approximately 6,000 civilians, including at least 200 children. Conditions in Oleshky have become dire, with constant shelling, critical food shortages, and a lack of potable water. The Ombudsman noted that due to the military situation along the river, a direct evacuation is currently impossible. Instead, a logistical chain has been proposed: civilians will be moved from these settlements to an intermediate, relatively safe location, from where they will be transferred to Ukrainian-controlled territory.
