New power outages have been recorded in seven regions, forcing utility crews to work around the clock to restore critical infrastructure. The situation remains precarious as both front-line damage and long-range missile attacks target the energy grid.
The most affected areas include the Dnipropetrovsk, Donetsk, Sumy, Kharkiv, and Kherson regions, where enemy shelling has caused damage to distribution lines. Concurrently, storms, heavy rain, and high wind gusts have led to power failures in 168 settlements across the Kirovohrad, Dnipropetrovsk, Poltava, and Sumy regions. Maintenance teams are currently mobilized to repair these sections.
Interestingly, overall electricity consumption has decreased by 2.7% compared to the previous day. This shift is attributed to clear weather conditions in the central and southwestern parts of the country, which have boosted the efficiency of household solar power plants. By generating local electricity, these households reduce the overall burden on the centralized national grid. Energy experts emphasize that the expansion of distributed generation is becoming increasingly vital for Ukraine’s survival against systematic Russian aggression.
The volatility of the energy sector is exacerbated by ongoing combined-arms tactics from Moscow. In the latest wave of attacks, the aggressor launched ballistic missiles and dozens of drones across various regions. Despite high interception rates by Ukrainian air defense, incoming debris and direct hits continue to damage electrical substations and power grids. Ukrenergo has urged citizens to shift their use of heavy appliances to the 10:00 AM to 4:00 PM window, when industrial and residential solar generation is at its peak.
