On the night of June 12, Ukrainian forces executed a series of highly coordinated and devastating strikes against military and industrial targets deep inside Russia and within temporarily occupied territories. According to the official statement published by the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, the operation successfully neutralized key oil refineries, vital chemical manufacturing plants, and multiple command and control nodes. This surgical offensive highlights Ukraine’s growing capability to project power deep into Russian territory and systematically degrade the Kremlin’s war machine.
A primary focus of the operation was the Republic of Tatarstan, located over 1,000 kilometers from the Ukrainian border. Ukrainian drones successfully targeted the massive TANECO and TAIF-NK refinery complexes in Nizhnekamsk, sparking major fires. TANECO is one of Russia’s most advanced refineries, with an annual capacity exceeding 16 million tons, specializing in high-grade diesel and aviation fuel. Meanwhile, TAIF-NK is critical for its extreme processing depth, providing raw chemical inputs directly linked to the Russian military-industrial complex.
Simultaneously, a strike on the “Tolyattikauchuk” facility in the Samara Oblast dealt a heavy blow to Russia’s missile production capabilities. This facility is a monopoly producer of synthetic rubbers, which serve as crucial binders for solid rocket fuel used in tactical and ballistic missiles. Disruption of this supply chain directly impairs Russia’s long-term missile manufacturing capacity and limits its strategic artillery capabilities.
Furthermore, Ukraine targeted military infrastructure across the frontlines and border regions. Command posts in Russia’s Kursk Oblast (Obesti and Iskra), as well as in the occupied Kherson and Donetsk regions, were hit. Strategic logistical warehouses in Mariupol, an artillery depot in the Luhansk region, and a major troop concentration area at the Vostochny training ground in Zaporizhzhia were also neutralized.
Additionally, subsequent damage assessments confirmed that the Kuibyshev refinery in Samara, struck on June 10, has completely ceased operations after its vital AVT-4 and AVT-5 primary distillation units were destroyed. By systematically neutralizing Russia’s refining capacity and cutting military supply lines, Ukraine continues to deplete the aggressor’s economic and combat potential, transforming the war of attrition into a high-tech battle for resource dominance.
