A high-ranking official at the Kyiv Hydropark communal facility has been served a notice of suspicion regarding a 1.5 million UAH bribery scheme, as reported by the Office of the Prosecutor General. The case highlights ongoing efforts to combat domestic corruption within municipal institutions. The official allegedly demanded payment in exchange for allowing a private company to organize social and sports events on park grounds.
According to the investigation, the official initially demanded 5 million UAH, eventually lowering the bribe to 1.5 million UAH. To minimize personal risk, he involved an unsuspecting subordinate to facilitate the money transfer, which was intercepted by law enforcement officers at a gas station in Kyiv. The suspect is currently held in custody, with the court setting bail at 3 million UAH.
This investigation underscores the persistent challenge of municipal corruption, even as the nation remains focused on critical wartime needs and international cooperation. Transparency in local administration is essential, as funds diverted to private pockets are desperately needed for infrastructure maintenance and public services.
