The frontline in Ukraine is experiencing an unprecedented surge in combat intensity, with Russian forces launching multi-vector offensives across the entire theater of operations. According to the latest update by the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, Ukrainian defense forces engaged in 279 combat clashes with Russian invaders over the past 24 hours. This massive scale of hostilities highlights Russia’s ongoing strategy to stretch Ukrainian defensive lines and exploit potential vulnerabilities ahead of larger summer maneuvers.
The technological and tactical footprint of the yesterday’s battles reveals a heavy reliance on unmanned systems and standoff airstrikes. The Russian military carried out 3 missile strikes and 74 airstrikes, deploying an astonishing 232 guided aerial bombs (KABs). Furthermore, the enemy deployed a record-shattering 10,221 kamikaze drones and conducted 3,435 shellings, including 57 from multiple launch rocket systems (MLRS). This massive reliance on cheap FPV drones and heavy guided bombs aims to systematically dismantle Ukrainian fortifications before infantry assaults.
The Pokrovsk direction remains the most volatile sector of the front, where Ukrainian troops successfully repelled 43 assaults near Volne, Kucheriv Yar, Kotlyne, Serhiivka, and Pokrovsk. Concurrently, the Huliaipole direction witnessed 37 Russian attacks, demonstrating the enemy’s efforts to revive offensive operations in the south. High tactical pressure was also observed in the Lyman (21 attacks), Sloviansk (19 attacks), and Kostiantynivka (12 attacks) sectors, indicating a coordinated attempt to push deeper into the Donetsk oblast.
Despite the overwhelming pressure, Ukrainian defense forces maintained high operational efficiency. Ukrainian tactical aviation struck four command posts, eight personnel concentration areas, an artillery system, and a drone control center. Additionally, air defense units successfully neutralized 264 Russian reconnaissance and attack drones.
The price of this offensive push continues to be devastating for the Russian army. Over the past 24 hours, Russian losses amounted to 1,300 personnel, 4 tanks, 75 artillery systems, and a staggering 396 military vehicles and fuel tankers. Since the beginning of the full-scale invasion, Russia’s total estimated casualties have reached approximately 1,369,340 troops. While these losses represent a severe blow to Russia’s military sustainability, the Kremlin shows no signs of halting its high-casualty tactics.
