A court in Dnipro has sentenced a local woman to 15 years in prison for high treason, as reported by the Office of the Prosecutor General. This ruling marks a significant victory in the ongoing struggle against internal intelligence networks actively working for the Russian Federation within Ukrainian cities.
According to the investigation, the defendant proactively established contact with representatives of the aggressor state. Her criminal activities included conducting reconnaissance on Ukrainian military units, confirming their operational status, and gathering sensitive information regarding military equipment. This intelligence was directly aimed at facilitating Russian missile and artillery strikes on Ukrainian defenses, posing a lethal threat to soldiers and civilian infrastructure alike.
Beyond spying, the woman engaged in subversion by recruiting Ukrainian citizens to support the enemy and actively promoted anti-Ukrainian propaganda, denying the nature of Russia’s armed aggression. During the trial, she fully admitted her guilt and expressed remorse. The court sentenced her to 15 years in prison, coupled with the mandatory confiscation of all assets. Among the seized property transferred to the state were a Mercedes-Benz ML vehicle and a luxury apartment in Dnipro exceeding 100 square meters.
The case serves as a stark reminder of the security challenges Ukraine faces behind the frontlines. As the conflict intensifies, with the enemy deploying everything from advanced robotic platforms to human intelligence networks, the State Security Service (SBU) remains vigilant. Ensuring justice for those who facilitate Russian aggression is a critical pillar of national defense, demonstrating that treason is met with the full force of the law.
