According to the head of the Dnipro Regional Military Administration, Oleksandr Ganzha, on his official Telegram channel, the death toll from the devastating overnight Russian missile strike on Dnipro has risen to 15. Emergency rescue teams working tirelessly under the rubble of a heavily damaged residential building recently recovered the bodies of two women and a man. The tragedy has once again highlighted the severe threat civilian populations face amid Russia’s continuous aerial campaign.
The State Emergency Service of Ukraine (SESU) reported that at least 40 people, including four children, sustained injuries of varying severity in Dnipro. In response to the high number of casualties, local authorities have declared June 3 a day of mourning. Earlier reports had placed the death toll at 12, including two children, but as search and rescue operations progress, the grim tally continues to rise.
This devastating strike was part of a broader, highly coordinated offensive. Overnight, Russian forces launched a massive barrage consisting of 73 missiles of various types and 656 strike unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) across Ukraine. Although Ukrainian air defense systems successfully intercepted a significant majority of these incoming targets, the scale and sheer density of the attack led to catastrophic failures of residential infrastructure. Dnipro, Kyiv, and Kharkiv bore the brunt of the onslaught. Currently, the nationwide casualty count stands at 21 dead and over 100 wounded.
