Russian occupation forces continue their relentless campaign against Ukraine’s civilian population, focusing heavy strikes on frontline and border communities. According to the official report released by the Head of the Dnipropetrovsk Regional Military Administration, Alexander Ganzha, nearly 30 strikes targeted various settlements in the region, leaving at least six civilians wounded. This constant barrage serves as yet another stark reminder that Russia’s claims of targeting only military installations are entirely false, as residential areas and public transit systems bear the brunt of the daily attacks.
The Nikopol district was the primary target of the latest assaults. Heavy shelling and kamikaze drone attacks rained down on Nikopol itself, alongside the Pokrovska, Chervonohryhorivska, Marhanetska, and Myrivska communities. The resulting destruction is severe: six multi-story residential buildings, a local gymnasium, crucial municipal infrastructure, a city bus, and several private cars were heavily damaged. Among the casualties, a 55-year-old man was hospitalized in serious condition, while five women received outpatient medical treatment. Additionally, in the major industrial hub of Kryvyi Rih, a civilian bus and a car were damaged by shrapnel and blast waves.
From a tactical perspective, Nikopol’s geographic vulnerability makes it an easy target for Russian forces stationed on the occupied left bank of the Dnipro River. Operating near the Zaporizhzhia Nuclear Power Plant (NPP) in Enerhodar, Russian troops use the nuclear facility as a shield, knowing that Ukrainian forces cannot engage in full-scale counter-battery fire without risking global disaster. This dynamic allows the aggressor to conduct unpunished daily strikes, terrorizing the local population and attempting to turn vibrant towns into unlivable ruins.
The systematic nature of these strikes reflects Russia’s broader strategy to destabilize Ukraine’s home front and deplete its humanitarian resources. While the Kremlin continues to engage in manipulative rhetoric regarding potential peace talks, the reality on the ground demonstrates that Moscow has no genuine interest in ending the conflict. Instead, it seeks to inflict maximum damage on civilian infrastructure, attempting to break the resolve of the Ukrainian people. To counter this ongoing terror, Ukraine’s allies must urgently deliver more advanced air defense systems and lift restrictions on long-range strikes to neutralize Russian launch sites.
