During his appearance on the youth talk show “At Home is Better,” broadcast live on YouTube, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy declared that Ukraine is poised for a massive economic boom once the war ends. He emphasized that citizens who choose to remain in the country or return home now will possess a distinct competitive advantage. Due to wartime conditions, market competition has temporarily decreased, which, despite being a challenge for the current economy, provides an unprecedented window of opportunity for starting a business and securing rapid post-war growth as foreign investments flood into the country.
Zelenskyy argued that the smartest investments are always made during difficult times. He noted that even though Ukraine is not yet a legal member of the European Union, it is already mentally integrated into the European family. Legal EU accession and full market integration are inevitable milestones that will unlock massive potential for such a geographically vast nation. The President expressed deep gratitude to the young people returning to Ukraine today, stressing that their energy and skills are crucial for both current defense and future reconstruction.
Echoing these sentiments, First Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Economy Yulia Svyrydenko outlined the government’s concrete tools to support young professionals and aspiring entrepreneurs. She noted that the state is actively recruiting youth into public administration through specialized student and youth councils operating under the Office of the President and the Cabinet of Ministers. These platforms allow the younger generation to directly shape national policies and participate in interagency decision-making.
Furthermore, Svyrydenko announced a major expansion of financial support programs. Starting in July, the government will launch a comprehensive mentoring initiative for startup founders alongside simplified business registration procedures. In September, the maximum threshold for state micro-grants to launch a business will be raised to 300,000 UAH. The Minister emphasized that public funds alone cannot drive national recovery, highlighting that the synergy of private enterprise and youth innovation will be the true catalyst for Ukraine’s economic revival.
