A significant corruption scheme involving a staff sergeant from a specialized law enforcement agency has been uncovered in the Lviv region. As reported by the State Bureau of Investigation (SBI), the official facilitated the illegal procurement of military draft exemptions for citizens using falsified documents and administrative manipulation.
The investigation revealed that the suspect offered to secure an exemption for a man wanted by a Lviv military recruitment center (TCC) for $16,000. Through a corrupt network, the official bypassed the requirement for personal presence, transferring the individual’s registration to a different military center in the Volyn region. Subsequently, the registration of the exemption was processed through a Service Center (CNAP), resulting in the official status being reflected in the ‘Rezerv+’ mobile application, effectively shielding the individual from mandatory mobilization.
The suspect was apprehended immediately upon receiving the bribe. He now faces charges for abuse of influence. A court has ordered pre-trial detention with the possibility of bail. If convicted, the officer faces up to eight years in prison with asset forfeiture.
