The Unmanned Systems Forces (USF) of the Armed Forces of Ukraine have executed a series of highly effective strikes, destroying 46 enemy assets across the nights of May 16 and 17. As reported by USF Commander Robert ‘Madyar’ Brovdi, the operations targeted logistics, command centers, and high-value military infrastructure in the occupied regions of Donetsk, Luhansk, Zaporizhzhia, Crimea, and deep within Russian territory.
This campaign underscores a strategic shift in modern warfare, where drone technology becomes the primary tool for attriting the enemy’s operational capacity. The strikes included the neutralization of a Project 10410 border patrol ship in Kaspiysk (Dagestan), a strategic secure communications hub of the Russian Black Sea Fleet in occupied Crimea, and a fuel train in Fedorivka. Furthermore, key command posts of the 51st Combined Arms Army and the 150th Motorized Rifle Division in the Donetsk region were effectively hit, significantly disrupting the occupier’s command-and-control structures.
A total of 186 fire missions were completed during the two-night period. By focusing on critical logistics—such as fuel depots and command nodes—the Ukrainian forces are effectively degrading the enemy’s ability to coordinate large-scale offensive operations. The persistent pressure on Russian rear areas serves to force the aggressor to divert air defense resources and complicates their logistical chains, which are already strained.
The efficiency of the USF has turned the occupied territories into a dangerous environment for Russian military leadership. By maintaining a high tempo of operations, the Armed Forces of Ukraine ensure that no enemy installation is safe, regardless of its distance from the front line. This approach is instrumental in leveling the playing field against an numerically superior adversary, proving that technical superiority and innovative tactics are crucial in the ongoing war of attrition.
