Russian forces have once again launched a brutal artillery strike against the residential areas of Kherson, deliberately targeting civilian infrastructure. As a result of this unprovoked attack, four residents were injured, including a 14-year-old boy. The Kherson Regional and City Military Administrations confirmed the details of yet another war crime committed by the occupying forces.
According to official reports from local authorities, the Korabelny district of the city came under heavy enemy fire at approximately 14:30. The sudden artillery barrage caught many residents off guard, resulting in immediate civilian casualties. Paramedics and emergency responders swiftly arrived at the scene to provide first aid and evacuate the wounded.
“A child injured by Russian strikes on the Korabelny district of Kherson was immediately taken to the hospital. The 14-year-old boy was diagnosed with a severe concussion, as well as explosive and closed craniocerebral injuries. The victim is currently under the strict supervision of medical professionals. Doctors evaluate his condition as moderate but stable,” the Kherson Regional Military Administration reported.
In addition to the teenager, three adults suffered injuries of varying severity and were urgently hospitalized. Tragically, one woman is reported to be in a critical condition, with intensive care physicians fighting tirelessly to save her life.
The relentless bombardment caused extensive destruction to the city’s housing sector. A direct artillery hit struck a multi-story residential building, obliterating an apartment on the top floor and causing catastrophic structural damage to neighboring units. Shattered windows, destroyed walls, and debris scattered across the streets serve as a grim reminder of the daily terror inflicted upon Kherson.
Since its liberation in late 2022, Kherson has been subjected to continuous shelling from Russian positions situated just across the Dnipro River. The occupying forces routinely deploy a deadly mix of heavy artillery, multiple launch rocket systems, and explosive-laden drones against non-military targets.
This latest artillery assault follows a string of vicious attacks aimed at ordinary citizens going about their daily lives. Recently, Russian operators deliberately dropped explosives from a drone onto a civilian trolleybus navigating the city streets. The driver of the trolleybus heroically attempted to protect his passengers but sustained critical injuries. Despite the desperate efforts of medical personnel, the driver later succumbed to his wounds in the hospital.
Local authorities continue to urge residents of Kherson to remain vigilant, strictly heed air raid warnings, and consider evacuating to safer regions of Ukraine as Russian forces persist in their systematic campaign of terror against the civilian population. Every single strike on residential buildings is being thoroughly documented by law enforcement agencies as evidence of war crimes for future international tribunals.
