Kateryna shared the emotional details of their impending relocation with her followers on Instagram, shedding light on the motivations behind this significant step.
According to Kateryna, the couple had been contemplating the possibility of moving abroad for over a year. However, the devastating impact of the ongoing war, coupled with the persistent anxiety surrounding the safety of their young child, ultimately forced their hand. In a country where security situations remain highly volatile, the desire to provide a stable and peaceful environment for their son became their absolute priority. Kateryna revealed that the definitive catalyst—which she described as the “last straw”—was a recent, undisclosed incident involving their family property. This unsettling event accelerated their plans to seek refuge across the Atlantic.
Despite the physical distance, the family is adamant that this relocation does not equate to severing ties with their homeland. They plan to adopt a transnational lifestyle, living between Canada and Ukraine, and maintaining the option to return frequently. The choice of Canada as their new base is far from random. Volodymyr Ostapchuk has deep-rooted connections to the country; he previously lived and studied there, and his children from a former marriage currently reside in Canada.
