In Dnipro, law enforcement authorities have charged three individuals following a violent assault on a local volunteer who was raising funds to purchase a vehicle for the Armed Forces of Ukraine. The incident details were reported by the Office of the Prosecutor General. This criminal act highlights the dangers faced by those dedicated to supporting the Ukrainian military, as malicious groups seek to exploit wartime circumstances for personal gain.
According to the investigation, the suspects targeted the volunteer after learning about his fund-raising efforts. They abducted the victim from his apartment, subjected him to brutal physical violence, and stole $11,000 intended for the military vehicle, along with jewelry valued at approximately 100,000 UAH. The mastermind behind the attack is identified as a previously convicted resident of Pavlohrad with deep ties to criminal circles.
The terror did not end with the robbery. Two of the suspects continued to harass the victim for several months, demanding an additional $10,000 under the guise of an artificial debt. They used constant threats of violence to extort money from the man until one of the perpetrators was finally caught red-handed during a fund transfer.
During a series of search operations, police recovered cash, mobile devices, and other critical evidence. All three suspects have been charged with robbery under Article 187, Part 4 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine, with two of them also facing charges of extortion under Article 189, Part 4. Authorities are currently investigating the involvement of three additional individuals in this organized criminal activity. One suspect is already in custody without the possibility of bail, while others remain under investigation or are incarcerated for separate crimes.
