President Volodymyr Zelenskyy has initiated a significant shift in Ukraine’s defense strategy following a special meeting of the Staff of the Supreme Commander-in-Chief. As reported in his official Telegram channel, the meeting marked a milestone by facilitating direct communication between field commanders and domestic arms manufacturers. This new format aims to ensure that the immediate needs of front-line units are met with rapid, customized technological solutions.
The meeting brought together high-ranking military officials, including commanders of the 10th, 11th, and 19th Army Corps, along with representatives from the ‘Khartiya’ and ‘Azov’ units, the Ministry of Defense, and the Ministry of Finance. For the first time, those using the weaponry on the battlefield had a direct channel to express their requirements to the people developing and financing it.
Zelenskyy emphasized that the quality of supplied equipment is non-negotiable. He demanded that manufacturers respond swiftly to battlefield feedback, specifically regarding drones, ground-based robotic complexes, and long-range ammunition. This collaborative model is set to become a regular occurrence, with the Ministry of Defense and the National Security and Defense Council tasked with coordination.
As Ukraine prepares for the complexities of the upcoming autumn campaign, strengthening air defense and maintaining diplomatic momentum remain top priorities. The government is focused on entering August with maximum capabilities to counter potential Russian escalation. By fostering this synergy between military command and defense production, Ukraine is streamlining its path to achieving technological superiority.
