The Ministry of Defense of Ukraine has officially codified and cleared for service in the Armed Forces a new reconnaissance and strike ground-based robotic complex (GRC) known as the “Snake Mini Strike,” according to the official statement. Developed in close collaboration with engineers and combat veterans from one of Ukraine’s most proficient brigades, this system incorporates over four years of frontline combat experience.
The “Snake Mini” is engineered for mobility, stealth, and high efficiency. Its electric drivetrain ensures near-silent operation, a critical advantage for reconnaissance missions. Due to its compact size and light weight, the platform can be transported in the trunk of a standard microbus or the bed of a pickup truck, allowing for rapid deployment and quick extraction in dynamic battlefield environments. The high-speed wheeled chassis provides excellent off-road capabilities, ensuring it can maneuver through difficult terrain.
A standout feature of the GRC is its versatility in combat. It is equipped with a combat module featuring an MK19 grenade launcher, known for its high kinetic energy and precision, capable of firing from concealed positions. Beyond the MK19, the platform is modular, meaning it can be fitted with various other infantry weapon systems depending on the mission requirements. To maintain situational awareness, the robot includes both high-definition daytime cameras and thermal imaging systems for nighttime operations.
The integration of autonomous robotic systems like the “Snake Mini” is becoming a cornerstone of Ukraine’s defense strategy. By replacing humans in high-risk zones, these machines significantly enhance the survivability of infantry units while maintaining persistent surveillance and fire support.
