The Defense Procurement Agency of the State Logistics Operator has successfully contracted 333.6 billion UAH worth of unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) in the first half of 2026. FPV drones account for the largest share of these contracts.
To streamline the acquisition process, the government utilized the DOT-Chain Defence marketplace, an innovative tool allowing combat units to select specific hardware based on their tactical needs. The Agency manages the end-to-end process, including contracting, payment, and logistics. This system has proven highly effective, reducing the average delivery time of available drones to just nine days. This logistical efficiency is vital for maintaining high-tempo operations on the front line.
Since March, the Ministry of Defense has adopted a data-driven approach to procurement. By integrating insights from digital battlefield systems such as DELTA, Mission Control, and the Brave1 Market, the military generates performance ratings for various UAV models. This methodology effectively removes human bias and drastically lowers corruption risks, ensuring that only the most reliable and combat-proven technology reaches soldiers. The objective is clear: every drone supplied must have a demonstrable impact on neutralizing enemy positions.
Furthermore, the government has introduced a price adjustment mechanism for fiber-optic drones. This policy was designed to counter the volatility of global prices for optical fibers, ensuring an uninterrupted supply chain. The newly launched ‘Base Level’ initiative further prioritizes providing guaranteed monthly drone supplies to infantry units stationed in the most dangerous sectors of the front. This package includes FPV drones, aerial reconnaissance wings, and heavy-lift bombers.
By prioritizing data-backed procurement, Ukraine is optimizing its defensive strategy.
