In Kharkiv, law enforcement officials have exposed a 36-year-old man who used forged police credentials and a fake badge to bypass checkpoints without inspection. As reported by the National Police of Ukraine, the individual had been a fugitive for nearly a year, evading military service. The elaborate ruse was specifically designed to help him avoid mobilization checks.
The suspect purchased the counterfeit documents via the internet, paying in cryptocurrency. He adopted the identity of a Senior Operative of the Department of Internal Security of the National Police, assuming the rank of major. To solidify his disguise, he even obtained a forged operational vehicle pass allegedly signed by senior National Police leadership. This level of preparation highlights the lengths to which some individuals will go to avoid their legal obligations during the ongoing state of martial law.
The deception was uncovered during a coordinated operation by police officers in the Kharkiv region. When stopped for a routine traffic check, the man attempted to present his fake credentials to patrol officers. However, he accidentally encountered an actual member of the Department of Internal Security, who immediately recognized the documents as fraudulent. Upon realizing his situation, the man confessed on the spot.
