The 1605th day of Russia’s full-scale invasion of Ukraine shows no signs of respite. According to the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, 249 combat engagements occurred over the last 24 hours. Russian forces are maintaining pressure across multiple sectors, relying heavily on air power and drone swarms to breach Ukrainian defenses.
The Pokrovsk direction remains the epicenter of the conflict, with 37 repelled assaults. High activity was also observed in the Sloviansk, Kostiantynivka, and Huliaipole regions. The Russian military continues its destructive campaign, dropping 265 glide bombs and deploying nearly 10,000 kamikaze drones in a single day. This relentless aerial campaign is designed to support infantry thrusts while causing maximum attrition to defensive fortifications.
Despite the intensity, Ukrainian forces are holding firm. The Defense Forces’ aviation and artillery units successfully targeted 18 Russian personnel concentration areas and several key military assets. The cost for the aggressor remains staggeringly high: 1,370 soldiers were neutralized in the last 24 hours alone, along with 4 tanks, 65 artillery systems, and 1,879 drones. The destruction of these assets severely impacts the Russian military’s ability to maintain sustained momentum.
While the Orkhiv and Lyman directions face constant, systematic probing by enemy units, the situation in the Prydniprovske sector remains relatively static with no current offensive maneuvers by the enemy. Analysts observe that Russia’s strategy currently focuses on grinding down Ukrainian endurance through sheer volume of fire rather than tactical maneuverability. However, the consistent loss of equipment and personnel indicates that the Russian offensive potential is being degraded faster than it can be replenished.
The resilience of the Ukrainian army continues to be the decisive factor. By neutralizing high numbers of enemy combatants and critical technical hardware, the Armed Forces of Ukraine are effectively blunting the offensive capability of the Russian invasion force, forcing Moscow to constantly rotate units and commit reserves to maintain their current, albeit slow, pace of operations.
