German defense contractor Quantum Systems has secured a significant contract to supply Ukraine with 20 unmanned ground vehicles, as reported by the company. The delivery includes ten autonomous Daimler Truck Zetros vehicles and ten MANDRILL robotic platforms, which are slated for immediate field validation on the front lines.
The equipment will be transferred to the National Guard of Ukraine as part of a research and development program aimed at modernizing military logistics. By testing these systems in high-intensity combat scenarios, Quantum Systems intends to gather critical feedback to refine their autonomous capabilities. The Zetros trucks are equipped with the MOSAIC Ground Autonomy Kit, allowing for remote control or fully autonomous operation. This technology supports tasks such as supply transport and synchronized convoy movement, significantly reducing the exposure of personnel to enemy threats.
The MANDRILL platform provides versatile utility, boasting a 750 kg payload capacity, a top speed of 100 km/h, and a 200 km range on a single charge. Its modular architecture allows for the integration of various sensors, electronic warfare equipment, or casualty evacuation modules. Hendrik Kramer, Vice President of Ground Systems at Quantum Systems, emphasized that the company leverages direct feedback from Ukrainian operators to accelerate technological advancements. This collaboration marks another milestone in the ongoing partnership between Ukraine and Germany in the defense sector, focusing on the deployment of advanced robotics and autonomous systems to maintain a strategic edge in the face of persistent aggression.
