Starting July 1 and continuing through August 31, the rules for student public transport fares in Kyiv are shifting to a summer schedule. As reported by the Kyiv City State Administration, the free travel privilege granted to students during the academic year is officially suspended for the duration of the school holidays.
To mitigate the financial impact on families, the city is providing a 75% discount on travel passes for full-time students. It is essential to note that this discount applies only to purchased monthly or trip-based passes. Standard single-trip payments do not carry the 75% reduction during these two months. For instance, a full-month unlimited pass is priced at 325 UAH, which remains the most cost-effective option for regular commuters.
In addition to school-aged children, cadets from military higher education institutions in the capital must also pay standard fares starting July 1. These discounted passes can be conveniently purchased via the “Kyiv Digital” mobile app, self-service kiosks, or online platforms, ensuring that the process remains streamlined even amidst the city’s ongoing challenges.
The city has structured the pass options to cater to various needs, offering packages for 46, 62, 92, and 124 trips, as well as unlimited options for half-month or full-month durations. This flexibility is part of a broader effort to maintain the stability of the public transport network in the face of current urban pressures.
