Ukrainian law enforcement agencies have successfully disrupted a sophisticated assassination plot targeting a high-ranking official of the Main Intelligence Directorate (GUR) of the Ministry of Defense. As reported by the National Police of Ukraine, a key intermediary and “guarantor” of Russian intelligence payments has been arrested in the Kyiv region.
The 34-year-old suspect, a former soldier, served as the primary link between Russian handlers and the individuals tasked with executing the assassination. According to investigators, the Russian special services offered a $100,000 reward for the successful execution of the murder. These funds were funneled through cryptocurrency services to cover operational expenses, including surveillance, recruitment of hitmen, and the procurement of weapons.
