More than one million Ukrainian citizens have applied to participate in the national ‘Health Screening 40+’ program, according to a report by First Deputy Prime Minister Yulia Svyrydenko, which can be found at https://t.me/svyrydenkoy/2772. This initiative is designed to provide targeted state financial support for medical diagnostics, aiming to detect chronic and critical diseases in their early stages.
Under the program, each participant receives 2,000 UAH in state support once their application is processed. These funds are earmarked for covering the costs of medical check-ups at healthcare facilities participating in the government initiative. The program specifically targets high-risk conditions, including cardiovascular diseases, diabetes, and mental health issues—the latter being of particular concern due to the prolonged stress caused by the ongoing war. The importance of such domestic stability programs cannot be overstated as the country continues to navigate the complexities of life during a full-scale invasion.
Accessibility is a cornerstone of the project. Citizens can choose from 2,227 medical facilities, including public, municipal, and private clinics, regardless of their place of residence or official registration. This flexibility is particularly vital for internally displaced persons who may need specialized medical care in their new locations. To apply, citizens simply need to use the ‘Diia’ mobile application or visit a local Administrative Service Center (CNAP).
Once the funds are credited to the user, they have the autonomy to select the most convenient medical provider from the official list and schedule their examination. This decentralized approach not only reduces bureaucratic hurdles but also fosters a competitive and efficient environment for healthcare service delivery across the country.
Health experts emphasize that this program is a strategic investment in the nation’s future. By focusing on preventive medicine, Ukraine aims to significantly reduce the burden on its healthcare system while improving the overall health outcomes for its aging population. As the country remains focused on resilience and recovery, prioritizing the health of its citizens serves as a critical pillar of long-term national security. The government has signaled its commitment to expanding these initiatives, ensuring that healthcare remains a top priority even during challenging times, allowing citizens to monitor their well-being effectively and receive necessary interventions promptly.
