The targeted locations include the crucial Dzhankoi checkpoint and the road bridge spanning the Promoyina strait (also known as the Arabat strait). These operations signify a deliberate, ongoing campaign by Ukraine to isolate the peninsula and choke off supplies to Russian occupation forces in the south.
Satellite photographs captured on June 12 and 13 reveal extensive damage to the Dzhankoi checkpoint infrastructure along the main highway leading from Chongar into Crimea. This route serves as a primary artery for transporting military equipment, ammunition, and personnel. The checkpoint had previously experienced massive congestion of military and cargo trucks following earlier Ukrainian strikes on neighboring bridges. By repeatedly targeting these bottlenecks, Ukrainian forces are effectively preventing Russia from safely routing reinforcements and maintaining stable supply lines.
In addition to the Dzhankoi checkpoint, the strategic bridge over the Promoyina strait, which connects the town of Henichesk with the Arabat Spit, was also severely damaged. The strike was reluctantly acknowledged by Vladimir Saldo, the Russian-appointed puppet head of the occupied Kherson region, who reported that only alternating, single-lane traffic was possible on the damaged structure. The Arabat Spit had been utilized by Russian forces as a secondary, supposedly safer corridor. With this bridge compromised, the viability of this route is severely diminished.
These precision strikes, coupled with concurrent attacks on deeper Russian assets—such as the recent hit on an oil facility in the Volgograd region—highlight a comprehensive attrition strategy. By severing physical transit routes and depleting fuel reserves, Ukrainian forces are actively shaping the operational environment.
